Tesco Meat Free Hot Dog Sausages

Everyone seems to love hot dogs and my family are no different. However, I’ve always been a bit dubious about what sort of stuff goes into making regular hot dog sausages.

I know they taste great and everything, but since watching various TV programmes showing exactly what mechanically recovered meat looks like and how it’s made, let’s just say I don’t feel quite  the same way about them as I once did.

Fortunately there are meat free alternatives which do a pretty good job of mimicking the hot dog taste. These Meat Free Hot Dog Sausages from Tesco are one variety I buy quite regularly because my lot enjoy eating them and they can’t tell that they’re not made from meat.

Tesco’s Meat Free Vegetarian hot dogs are made with a mixture of soya with a mild seasoning blend. As they’re a frozen product you can find them in the freezer aisle of Tesco in bags of 10 hot dogs. You cook them straight from frozen, either in a pan of water on the hob, in the microwave or under the grill.

Each hot dog sausage has 60 calories, so when stuffed into a wholemeal hot dog roll can make a reasonably lower calorie meal or snack.
