There are two varieties: Madagascan Vanilla & Roasted Almond which has 120 calories per ice cream and the Salted Caramel with just 110 calories. I purchased a box of both.
Each box contains 3 x 80ml ice creams at £3.99 per box! At the time of writing they were on special offer of 2 for £6 which brings the cost down to £1 each.
What Oppo say:
‘Healthy Food and Drink Award winner
An indulgent Madagascan Vanilla & Roasted Almonds ice cream, coated in a thick layer of deliciously rich Belgian ‘no added sugar' milk chocolate, and scattered with chopped almonds. Full of flavour and the highest-quality natural ingredients, but with up to 60% less sugar and calories than traditional ice cream. You won't believe it's only 120 calories.’
My family were extremely happy to see these appear in the freezer. Needless to say, they didn’t last long and were devoured before the day was out. Of course, I needed their opinions on the taste.
I’m not a big ice cream eater, but these flavours really appealed to me. I love all things vanilla, salted caramel and nutty.
I tried the Madagascan Vanilla & Roasted Almonds first. The outside coating is a delicious chocolate which is crisp with the crunchy bits of almonds scattered throughout. Although the coating itself is thinner than what you’d find on a Magnum for example, it was enough to provide a lovely chocolate contrast to the creamy vanilla ice cream inside – also delicious.

The Salted Caramel was also a big hit with the same chocolate coating but minus the nuts. The ice cream inside was very sweet with such a moreish caramel flavour.
Everyone in the family liked them all with possibly the vanilla winning overall.
These ice creams do save quite a lot on calories, for example, a Magnum Almond Ice Cream stick has 272 calories although the Magnum is a tiny bit bigger at 100ml.
But while they are lower in calories and sugar, they are still high in saturated fat and have a medium sugar level, but per ice cream this is around 1 teaspoon of sugar. The Salted Caramel flavour is high in salt but that is to be expected considering it’s ingredients.
