Heck Chicken Sausage Chipolatas Review

Heck chicken sausages chipolatasSince I’ve been cooking a lot more meat free meals, sausages aren’t something I think about buying. But after spotting these sausages from Heck at end of a chiller cabinet in Sainsbury’s last week, I thought they looked like an interesting alternative to regular pork sausages as they’re made with chicken.

They’re gluten free and best of all, two sausages come in at under 100 calories!

I knew my youngest daughter would really appreciate these as sadly, she’s not a fan of veggie meals.

What also tempted me into buying these was the combination of flavours – tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and garlic. Sounds delicious.

There are 10 sausages (340g) in the pack. As they're chipolatas I was expecting them to be very thin and quite small but they were a reasonable size, even for a regular sausage.

They can be cooked by grilling, frying, baking, barbecuing or baking. I decided to gently fry them in a little oil as I already had sweet potato chips in the oven.

They gave off such a tasty smell when cooking that even the cat was hassling me for a taste.

They have very little fat so no need to soak up the excess of kitchen paper. I served them with baked sweet potato chips, baked beans and a huge mixed salad.

Everyone loved the taste of these sausages and my daughter asked for them to be a regular purchase. They weren’t overly spicy like some sausages are, they were just perfect. Being high in protein they’re filling too.

What Heck say:

'Being small and independent means we can do things our way. Such as making all our food in small batches, using only the finest ingredients and creating recipes for flavour you can swear by.

Yes, we're uncompromising, but Heck, that's how we make damn good sausages.
