Marks & Spencer Wheatgerm Loaf

One of the reasons I make a trip to Marks & Spencer is to pick up a loaf of their Wholemeal High Bran  bread.

Unfortunately, on my most recent visit, the shelves where High Bran should have been, were empty. Rather than leave with no bread, I decided to grab a Wheatgerm loaf instead.

M&S Wheatbran bread is a 400g loaf made with Hovis flour and enriched with wheatgerm. It's thinly sliced giving each slice a calorie count of just 50 calories.

Although the slices are small, the texture of this bread is quite dense and chewy which helps make it seem a bit more substantial. It has a slightly nutty taste which personally, I find tastes better when toasted.

You can find M&S Wheatgerm loaf in larger Marks & Spencer Foodhalls.

Suitable for vegetarians.

Nutrition Information per slice: 50 calories, 2.2g protein, 8.1g carbohydrates, 1.0g sugar, 0.7g fat, 0.2g saturates, 1.0g fibre, 0.19g salt.

  3. Unfortunately, this happens. I've lost count of how many of my favourite breads have ceased production. It's so annoying I agree. I spend ages searching other supermarkets for something similar.

  5. I emailed m&s about this bread a couple of months ago and was told they weren't making it anymore, then lo and behold it was in the stores again! Now it's gone again! What's going on m&s????

    1. So sorry this is still happening. I now find the best thing to do, when you have a favourite bread (or anything) is to have a backup. This is because eventually, when you're relying on someone else to make the food, one day they will stop :-(

    2. I think it was madness to stop selling, this small lovely loaf!!! Who ever thought of it, get you fingers out, and start selling them, in all shops again!!! For people with small appetites, it's the ideal loaf!!!!
