Graze Box Delivery Date: 9 December 2011
This week’s Graze box arrived on the allotted day. And what a festive box it was. I didn’t take a sneak online preview this week, so had no idea what to expect.
Carefully placed on top of my Graze snack box was a festive greeting card containing the nutritional lowdown on the contents of the snacks, plus some instructions on how to piece together a cardboard snowman - something for the kids to do later. There were also a couple of smart, festive looking envelopes with vouchers for free Graze boxes.
So, it's onto the contents of the Graze box. I think this is going to be my favourite so far.
Very Nori-ish
These miniature Japanese rice crackers are made with seaweed and spices including soy sauce, paprika and chilli. The pack has 13 bite-sized crackers which is enough to last for a couple of grazing sections. I selected this one for myself because I know they’re low calorie, plus it’s nice to have a savoury snack as well as the sweet ones. They're light and crunchy with enough spice to set your tongue tingling but not leave you gasping for water. The name is totally apt as they are very moreish. (Love)
Calories for the punnet: 50.
Fruit and Seed Flapjacks
As with the ‘Apple and Cinnamon Flapjacks’ in an earlier box, this flapjack is sliced into three mini sized flapjacks. This one’s mainly for the kids. All children seem to like flapjacks and at least these are a decent portion size and not over 200 calories as most flapjacks are. They are absolutely bursting with fruit and seeds including apricots, dates, currants, sultanas, raisins, sunflower seeds and pumpkins seeds. Enjoyed by all except one family member who doesn’t like dried fruit. (Love)
Calories for the punnet: 230 (76.6 per flapjack).
Rock the Casbah
This pack has all my favourites: pumpkin seeds, walnuts and dates. It’s been given a top 10 health star by the Graze nutritionists and includes nutrients magnesium, omega 3 and fibre. I could munch on the contents of this pack till the cows come home. Fortunately, this little selection is the perfect size to stop the temptation of over grazing. I think I can make this last a couple of days. (Love)
Calories for the punnet: 156
Fruit Sangria
This one is a dried fruit selection containing strawberries, physallis and orange sultanas. I’m not such a dried fruit fan so this was ordered mainly for my husband. However, I have to try everything and this mix sounded particularly intriguing. I mean, dried physallis isn’t the sort of thing you come across every day. When opening this pack, a gorgeous smell of oranges wafts out. In fact, the contents of this punnet were a real hit. The orange sultanas are the best sultanas I’ve tasted, the physallis too, was an interesting combination of tangy crunchiness and surprisingly tasty as were the strawberries. I’d be happy to get this again. (Like)
Calories for the punnet: 110
The total Graze box calorie count for this week is 545 calories.
All in all, this week’s delivery has been a good all round selection with something inside to suit everyone. I'm happy to have all these delivered again. This was also the first week where I've had to pay the full price of £3.49. It doesn't sound like much, but considering it's £3.49 every week, it adds up to around £14 a month. I will eventually have to weigh up the pros and cons of keeping the delivery each week, but for now, we're all enjoying the Graze experience.
And here's the snowman, happily constructed by one of my children.
