One of the latest offerings spotted in the yogurt section of the supermarket were these individual Nush tubes, in Strawberry (34 calories) or Blueberry (42 calories). Each box contains 5 x 40g tubes and they're aimed at the kids market.
As a big yogurt eater I’m always on the lookout for new varieties in the stores. I tend to stay away from the coconut yogurts because, although delicious, they’re quite calorific. Nush make their yogurts with almond milk and cashew milk which and aren’t quite so high in calories.
I decided to purchase a box of Strawberry tubes made with almond milk, both for myself to review and for my daughter who refuses to eat dairy yogurt. I hoped she’d like these.
Each Strawberry tube has only 34 calories and less than a quarter of a teaspoon of sugar.
They need to be torn open at the top and this can be a little tricky but as long as you have dry hands I could open them easily.
To get at the yogurt, just squeeze the tube. It’s quite creamy and pale looking and smooth with no bits. To my taste buds I could clearly taste the almond flavour more than anything else. It’s a bit like marzipan which I wasn’t too keen on. I tried closing my eyes to figure out whether I would know if it was strawberry or not, and I’m not too sure!
They cost £2.99 for a box of 5 x 40g tubes and can be found in Ocado online, Tesco, Whole Foods, Planet Organic and other independent health food stores.
