Like the others in the Trop50 range, the new ‘Multi-vitamins’ and ‘Red Berries’ have 50% less sugar than regular fruit juice and are sweetened with Stevia (steviol glycosides). All flavours have only 20 calories per 100ml.
Trop50 juices are described as:
- A delicious blend of not from concentrate juice and water with Stevia leaf extract.
- Juice drink blend of 7 fruits and refreshing water,
- Never from concentrate.
- Made with 100% pure squeezed fruit.
- Packed with vitamin C, which helps reduce tiredness.
- With 50% less sugar than your average fruit juice.
- No artificial colours, sweeteners or flavours
Looking at the ingredients, it’s really just watered down juice with some additions, which I know isn’t ideal. However, there’s nothing artificial and it has been fortified with extra vitamin C (which is naturally lost during processing of fruit juice).
I’ve tried both the Multi-vitamins and the Red Berries and have to say they’re both really good. The multi vitamins is a mix of orange, apple, pineapple, banana, pear and grape which all combine to form a lovely tropical flavour. I can detect the pineapple and passion fruit quite clearly and the rest sort of blends into a refreshing and tangy drink.
I’m not much of a fan of berry drinks, but the Red Berries drink is different to any other I’ve tried. It has a real depth of flavour and I spent some time trying to figure out which berry I could taste. The label lists apple juice as the main ingredient, in fact 35% of the juice is apple with only tiny percentages of raspberry, blueberry, elderberry and grape. But the berry flavour does get through and it went down a treat with my husband while the kids preferred the Multi-vitamins.
Either way, I would say both these varieties will be making a reappearance in my household, along with the Orange & Mango.
Available in most major supermarkets.
