Weight Watchers British Favourites Yogurts Review

Weight Watchers British Favourites YogurtsI was finally nearing the end of an interminably long queue in Poundland, when I glanced into the fridges by the checkout. I don’t normally buy anything from these fridges, but on this day I noticed they were selling some Weight Watchers yogurts I hadn't seen before.

They’re called British Favourites and each pot has just under 60 calories and 1 ProPoint.

They’re sold in a four pack (4 x 120g) and varieties include: Apple & Pear Crumble, Strawberry Cheesecake Flavour, Apple & Berry Pie, and Rhubarb & Vanilla Flavour Crumble.

I rarely buy flavoured yogurts these days, instead preferring to stick with my favourite natural set Onken. However, I must admit, these yogurts from Weight Watchers sounded tempting. Plus it was impossible to miss the bold ‘60 calories’ on the front of the pack shouting out – pick me, pick me!’

I’m glad I did because these yogurts are delicious. The photos on the front of the pack give you an idea of what the actual dessert might look like, and the yogurts do a good job of mimicking those flavours.

Before I even had the chance to sample them, my daughter swiped one from the fridge. She went for the Strawberry Cheesecake and devoured it without me noticing. The good news was she loved it and said it tasted like the Activia Berry Crumble yogurts I used to buy. She said there were bits of biscuit which must have been the equivalent to the cheesecake base.

I’ve since purchased more of the Weight Watchers yogurts and tried the same flavour myself. I didn’t notice any biscuit but there were lots of strawberry bits with seeds. This gives the yogurt a sweet, slightly crunchy texture.

All the yogurts are very creamy and sweet, but I especially love the Rhubarb and Vanilla. There are bits of rhubarb throughout and it has a really lovely vanilla taste. Gorgeous. Luckily my daughter prefers the Strawberry cheesecake and Apple & Berry pie. We toss a coin for the Apple & Pear Crumble!

These would fit in well with the 5:2 diet as they provide a creamy dessert for only 60 calories.

In common with many Weight Watchers products, there are a lot of ingredients (details shown below). There are sweeteners which I know many people don’t like, and there are sugars as well. Personally, I’d rather they chose one or the other, or better, use Stevia. One day hopefully!

Talking of expense, these yogurts are a great deal. Naturally, as I found these in Poundland, they cost £1.00, so each pot costs 25p. At the time of writing, in Sainsbury, Waitrose and Ocado they cost £2.50 for 2 packs or £1.59 for one pack. In Morrisons they’re two for £2.00 and in ASDA they’re even cheaper at £0.97 for a pack.
