It’s 5 days before your best friend’s wedding and you look 7lbs heavier than you’d like to be. It’s just weeks before a really important interview and it would make a far better impression if you were just a little less bloated.
Whatever your reason is for wanting to lose those extra pounds fast, it’s probably a good one. Haven’t we all been there?
The Solution? Some people turn to practical starvation where they eat nothing but non-starchy vegetables and you know when someone is most dedicated when all they eat is raw. In the long run, or even the shorter run for that matter, that is not the most effective and certainly not the most healthy plan of action.
The plan is going to have to be drastic because losing that much weight in such a short period of time is usually not the healthiest way to lose weight.
But there is an exception to the rule:
The Dukan Diet: This diet was developed by Dr. Dukan in France and has since been gaining popularity. It seems like a mere high protein, low carbohydrate diet but it has 4 characteristic phases that help keep the weight off.
Not only do you reach a point where you don’t even realize that you’re following the diet but you also start off by losing an average of 7 lbs in the first 5 days. This initial weight loss helps motivate the dieter to stick with the program.
The Phases:
This is what the first phase usually looks like. You eat oat bran every morning and go big on lean proteins for the rest of the day. You have a restricted list of 72 lean proteins that you can eat in unrestricted portions. According to the plan, you won’t even feel that hungry on the third day. Drinking water is essential.
This is usually a very quick phase but you will notice the difference it makes. Continuing in this phase for too long is not healthy so you can soon transition to Phase 2.
By this time you’ve already lost those 6-7lbs you needed to drop. Phase 2 welcomes 28 low carb foods to supplement the protein diet and Phases 3 and 4 continue to see more additions to the foods you can eat till you can practically eat anything.
Will it work?There is no doubt that the diet works. People are often concerned about including other food groups into their diet but it’s important to note that once you’re well into Phase 4, you have a lot more freedom to choose whatever you want to eat.
Losing 7lbs in 5 days doesn’t sound so far-fetched anymore, does it? This is one of the best ways to drop pounds quickly and it will only help if you can do some light exercise during the first phase of the Dukan diet. Heavy exercise is not recommended since your body is going through some serious alterations. In the later phases exercise becomes more and more important as it should be vital part of any wholesome lifestyle.
