My family love eating a full English cooked breakfast and needless to say, I ensure it’s as low in fat and calories as possible. One of the most essential ingredients of a cooked breakfast is the sausage. However, many sausages are full of unhealthy saturated fat, making that breakfast exceedingly unhealthy. Fortunately, there are many reduced fat sausages in the supermarkets and I've bought many brands over the years. Last week we tried out a 50% reduced fat sausage from the Morrisons Nu Me range. Each sausage has 62 calories.
A 454g pack of Morrisons Nu Me Reduced fat sausages contains 8 un-linked sausages. They’re described as: ‘Perfectly peppery lean British pork sausages.’ And they have 50% less fat than Morrisons standard butcher’s style thick pork sausages.
They’re easy to cook, either shallow fry or grill for 15-20 minutes. Cooking them under the grill as I do, they release virtually no fat. This is a good sign, however they can burn quite quickly if the heat is too high or you don’t turn them frequently enough.
