So I’ve been buying lots of different brands of natural yogurt to see how they compare. Mainly I’m buying the low fat or fat free versions, and here is one exceptionally good value for money brand from Tesco. It’s called Everyday Value Low Fat Natural yogurt.
It really is great value. At just 55p for a 500ml carton this is just over half the price of Tesco’s Low Fat Natural yogurt which is £1.00 at the time of writing.
At such a low price I was a bit sceptical as to what it would taste like. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a lovely smooth and creamy natural yogurt with a mild flavour. In fact, it's hard to tell the difference between this one and Tesco’s Natural yogurt.
From now on when I buy natural yogurt from Tesco, I'll definitely choose this variety, especially if I'm planning to make smoothies which use up a fair amount of yogurt. Why pay nearly twice as much for a the standard low fat yogurt that tastes so similar.
However, there is one discrepancy when it comes to the nutritional values. I’d checked Tesco’s website and found the Everyday Value yogurt was listed as having 45 calories per 100ml and 0.2g of fat. This sounds more like a fat free yogurt than a low fat one.
And, when it was delivered with the rest of my online groceries, I noticed the information on the pot itself says it has 65 calories and 1.5g of fat per 100ml. I'm inclined to believe the side of the pot which is closer to what I'd expect for a low fat yogurt.
There are no added ingredients and it’s suitable for vegetarians.
Nutrition information per 100ml: 65 calories, 5.0g protein, 7.2g carbohydrates, 7.2g sugar, 1.5g fat, 0.9g saturates, 0g fibre, 0.2g salt.
