Kallo Range of 12 Calorie Breadsticks (Torinesi)

Breadsticks are always a good option if you’re trying to keep the calories down. But many breadsticks are much of a muchness, ie, they all taste the same. However, I recently came across a range of traditional Torinesi, authentic baked Italian breadsticks by Kallo which look and taste a little different.

There are four varieties to choose from: Original, Sesame, Parmesan and Cracked Black Pepper. All four flavours have just 12 calories per breadstick.

These breadsticks are produced in the Piedmont region of Italy of which Turin is the capital, hence the name ‘Torinesi’. They look a bit different to the smooth, round ended breadsticks commonly found in the stores. They’re tall and slim, a bit twig like with knobbly bits along the length.

They’re full of flavour, exceedingly light and crispy and very hard to stop eating once you get started!

A word from Kallo:

Italians have natural know how… That’s why our torinesi breadsticks are baked in Italy from 100% natural ingredients… Italian cooking is about savouring the simple tastes in life and our extra thin torinesi made in the Piedmont region are no exception.

Some suggestions for eating your breadsticks:

‘As a crunchy partner to soups, with a Thai-style dipping sauce or alongside raw vegetable sticks for a tasty mix of textures and flavours.’

Torinesi breadsticks contain all natural ingredients and are made with extra virgin olive oil. They’re suitable for vegetarians and vegans and Kallo is Vegetarian Society Approved and Certified Carbon Neutral.

Unfortunately, they’re not widely available. Your best bet for finding them is at Waitrose or Ocado online.
