Quorn Sticky Fillets - BBQ, Chilli & Lime Reviews

Ginger, Chilli & Lime Sticky Fillets
Quorn is the most amazing food. Not only is it a suitable meat alternative for vegetarians, it’s fantastic for slimmers. It’s low in calories and fat and a good source of protein.

Quorn have been advertising these benefits on TV which, incidentally, also coincide with the launch of some of their new products.

Here are two of them.

Sticky BBQ Fillets
New to the Quorn ‘fillet’ range is Ginger, Chilli & Lime Sticky Fillets and Quorn Smoky BBQ Sticky Fillets. These are described as ‘delicious meat free Quorn Fillets coated in either a sticky glaze, spiced with chilli, lime, ginger and coriander, or coated in a sticky smoky BBQ glaze.’

Both are low in calories with the Ginger, Chilli & Lime fillets having 62 calories each while the Smoky BBQ fillets have 64 calories each.

Packs contain four fillets which can be cooked in the oven, under the grill or on a barbecue. They are a frozen product and should be cooked from its frozen state. To cook, you have to brush them with a little oil first but to save calories you could use a spray oil to save calories.

As with so many of the Quorn products, the flavourings and spices are delicious and they make a healthy and filling meal for very few calories. The texture of Quorn however, may not appeal to everyone, as it’s obviously not meat.

For example, while my family all enjoyed the taste of the delicious sticky glaze, the younger members picked up on the fact that it wasn't meat, which, being fussy kids, meant they didn't finish. The eldest who loves meat, said he liked them but prefers something 'meatier'.

What can you do? I loved them, my husband also liked them and since they're a healthy, quick and easy to cook, tasty meal, will be buying these again. And despite what my kids say, I think Quorn fillets do have a remarkably similar texture to chicken, just not as chewy.

Quorn Sticky Fillets are available in most major supermarkets in the freezer cabinets.
