Now Halo Top have a new addition to their lower calorie ice cream range with the arrival of Halo Top Ice Cream Sticks.
Each box contains 3 ice creams on a wooden stick and there are four flavours - each have 100 calories or less per ice cream.
The four varieties available at the time of writing are:
Sea Salt Caramel – 80 Calories
Birthday Cake – 90 Calories
Strawberry Cheesecake – 100 calories
Peanut Butter Swirl – 100 calories.
I purchased a box of Peanut Butter swirl because my daughter loves peanut butter. To be honest, I only purchased them on this occasion because they were on a special offer, half price at £2.50.
I liked the peanut butter flavour and especially the swirly bit. They are a full sized lolly, not a mini version so they’re not gone after a couple of mouthfuls.
The consistency is very similar to the ice cream itself, smooth and quite light, almost fluffy. You don’t need to wait for them to soften like you do with the ice cream which is very hard straight out of the freezer. If you’ve ever eaten the Skinny Cow iced lollies, the Halo Top Ice lollies have a very similar consistency to those.
Looking at the ingredients, they’re not the same as the Halo Top Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. The ice lollies have more peanut butter and while both the lollies and the ice cream use the sweetener stevia, the ice lollies also have sugar and maltodextrin, while the ice cream adds sugar and erythritol.
They’re a reasonable source of protein and fibre with 4g of fibre per bar and 5.3g of protein.
They still have a lot fewer calories and sugar than regular ice cream and if you’re calorie counting, these can be helpful for satisfying a sweet tooth craving for very few calories.
Available at Tesco and Ocado at the time of writing.
