Garbanzo Baked Chickpea Bites Review

As a long time fan of Garbanzo’s chickpea snacks, I was interested to visit their stand at the Allergy & Free From Show at Olympia, London last year. They had a new range on show with lots of free samples for visitors to try out.

Still with chickpeas as the base, these chickpea snacks are called ‘baked chickpea bites’. They’re gluten free, contain Vitamin D and have less than 100 calories per bag.

Here’s what is says on the pack:

‘We take the chickpea, the whole chickpea and nothing but the chickpea to pack you with slow releasing energy.

Every packet of Garbanzo Chickpea Bites contains 15% of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin D contributing to healthy bones, teeth and immune system.

Every year we work with the Sunshine Orphanage in Dhaka, Bangladesh. For more information, please visit our website: www.garbanzosnacks.co.uk.’

What they say about their snacks on their website:

‘Our snacks are Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian making Garbanzo Bites suitable for those with a gluten intolerance or suffering from a Coeliac disorder and those who are Lactose intolerant.

All of our products have been approved Vegetarian & Vegan by the Vegetarian Society.

It is important for you to know we work closely with the Vegetarian Society ensuring those who care about ingredients in their food have a recognisable certification to rely on.

We source our raw ingredients directly from local farmers working closely with them to grade and select the very best crop of chickpeas for roasting. Our ingredients are ethically sourced; GMO free, Gluten Free, Free of animal products, additive free and preservative free.’

I always have a large stash of Garbanzo’s chickpea snacks to hand. Each bag contains 88 calories and takes ages to chomp through. But this is mainly because they’re so hard and crunchy!

These new snacks are in a different form. They’re still baked, but they’ve been squashed flat. So, while they’re still crunchy, they’re a lot easier to chew, and, eat faster!

They come in three different varieties:

  1. Sweet Thai Chilli (94 calories),
  2. Tangy Cheese (97 calories)
  3. BBQ (96 calories).

Each packet is 22g.

They’re vegetarian, gluten free and vegan friendly. They are nut free but they are packed in a nut environment so not suitable for those with a nut allergy.

You can find them online at: snack shop.
