Sainsbury’s Multiseed Flatbreads Review

Sainsbury's seeded flatbreadWhile searching for wholemeal pitta breads in Sainsbury's a few weeks ago, I ended up purchasing a pack of these multiseed flatbreads instead.

New from Sainsbury's and available in plain wholemeal as well, these flatbreads are pre-grilled and have 108 calories each.

Sainsbury's Multiseed flatbreads grabbed my attention because of the seeds (sunflower, pumpkin and linseeds) and the low calories. But additionally, I could see their versatility and how they might be used in a multitude of ways.

I was looking for something to put felafels inside and thought these could work as well instead of pitta bread. Also I was planning on making mini pizzas for the family that night and thought these would be ideal.

Although I'm cutting down a lot on wheat products (and feeling better for it), one of my favourite meals is an open sandwich made from Warburtons Seeded Sandwich Thins which are another type of flatbread and have just 100 calories. But I could see these Sainsbury's flatbreads as another option for making open sandwiches.

The flatbreads are pre-grilled and pre-folded in half. They're actually more substantial than I initially thought. Although grilled, they have a lovely soft texture are easily flattened out and refolded for fillings.

The first time I used them as a pizza base for home-made pizzas. I just spread some tomato puree over the unfolded flatbread, then added the toppings and put them under the grill until they were ready. Served up with a crispy side salad, they made a lovely meal.

The flatbreads hold together very well and have a lovely chewy texture. However, the seeds weren't quite as crunchy as I'd have hoped.

Nevertheless, I'll absolutely be purchasing these again when in Sainsbury's and think they're a great new addition to the range of flatbreads in store.

Purchased in Sainsbury's for £1 for a pack of 6 flatbreads.
