You could do this by purchasing a large bag of dried fruit and measuring out single portions (about 1 tablespoon).
Alternatively, you could take the easy way out and buy individual mini portions such as these cute boxes from The Fruit Factory.
The Fruit Factory’s Lunchbox mini snack packs contain a mix of raisins, sultanas, apples and apricots. You can buy them in packs of 12 boxes which includes four boxes of Raisins & Apricots, four boxes of Sultanas & Apple and four boxes of Raisins & Sultanas. Calories range between 39 – 43 per box.
These mini boxes of dried fruit are probably aimed more at the kids lunchbox market, but they’re perfect for slimmers who need to munch on something healthy without too many calories, and anyone else who wants a lower calorie nibble.
Nutritional plus points include:
Made from 100% fruit
No added sugar
Gluten free
Lactose free
No artificial colours.
There’s nothing bad here except perhaps that they’re high in sugars. Each box has a little over 2 teaspoons, but these are natural sugars from the fruit.
On the front of the pack is a small '5-a-day' symbol. However, there's no mention what portion of the 5 a day each box is. Since a portion of raisins is about 1 tablespoon, I'd say that each box contributes half a portion of your fruit & veg quota (if you're aiming for 5 a day).
You can find The Fruit Factory Lunchbox mini snacks in larger supermarkets. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
