Kruger Hot Chocolate Light (ASDA) – 41 calories

I generally get through one or two cups of low calorie hot chocolate each day. And although I’ve got my two firm favourites, I can’t resist the temptation of trying out brands I haven't yet tasted.

And so it was while shopping at ASDA that I thought it about time I tried this Kruger Hot Chocolate Light. With just 41 calories per drink, it’s certainly a good one to fit into a lower calorie diet.

Tesco Stevia Sweet Low Calorie Sweeteners

Last year saw the arrival of a new type of low calorie, natural sweetener made from Stevia. The first to make their appearance were Truvia and Pure Via. These are available in sprinkle and cube form.

At the time I reviewed these there were no stevia sweeteners in tablet form. Fortunately, since then, some of the other popular sweetener names such as Canderel and Hermesetas began producing their versions of stevia tablet sweeteners. Tesco has also followed suit by selling their own brand of sweetener called Stevia Sweet.

Tropicana Trop 50 Lower Calorie Juice Drinks NEW

Fresh fruit juices are delicious and thirst quenching, but it's so easy to glug down loads of the stuff without realising how many calories you're downing too. That's one of the negatives of fresh juice – the relatively high sugar content. Because of this, I usually stick to one or two small ‘shot’ glasses to keep the calories down.

This week I noticed one of my favourite brands ‘Tropicana’ were selling a new variety called Trop 50. Tropicana Trop 50 contains a range of juices with 50% less sugar and calories than regular orange juice and they’re sweetened with stevia. I had to find out more.

Waitrose LOVE Life You Count… Fisherman’s Pie

I love fish pie and usually like to make my own low fat version. However, it’s nice having a ready meal in the freezer for those times when you want a hot and filling meal but don’t have the time to prepare one.

Fish Pie can be high in fat, but this version from the Waitrose LOVE Life You Count range has a low fat content and only 269 calories per meal.

Low Fat Lemon Rasam Soup Waitrose Love Life

Each week throughout the winter, we’ve been having a ‘soup night’. Soups are so warming and filling, just right for taking the chill of your bones when coming in from the cold.

Although I often make my own soups, I'm finding this winter's range of chilled supermarket soups far too tempting to ignore.

This week I decided the kids could have family favourite 'Heinz Vegetable Soup' (which we all love). But for a change, hubby and I could treat ourselves to something a bit more exotic from Waitrose.

Top 10 Highest Fibre Vegetables (Cooked and Raw)

If you’re trying to increase your daily fibre intake, eating more vegetables is a great place to start. Not only are vegetables packed with vitamins and minerals, many have a significant amount of fibre too.

Fibrous vegetables are particularly filling and low in fat, which is always a bonus when following a weight loss diet. Plus, when we eat fibre, our body has to work harder at digesting it, burning off even more calories.

A diet high in fibre can be beneficial in helping to lower cholesterol, control blood sugar levels and prevent constipation.

Waitrose Mini Breadsticks with Olive Oil

Breadsticks are usually a failsafe choice for slimmers looking for a lower calorie snack. Most are low in calories, and because of their shape, you can’t easily pile them high with calorific toppings.

Most stores produce their own brands of breadsticks, many of which you’ll find on this blog. And here’s another from Waitrose – Mini Breadsticks baked with extra virgin olive oil. Each mini breadstick has only 5 calories.

The Fruit Factory Lunchbox Mini Snacks

Raisins and sultanas make an ideal healthy snack as long as you keep the portion sizes right.

You could do this by purchasing a large bag of dried fruit and measuring out single portions (about 1 tablespoon).

Alternatively, you could take the easy way out and buy individual mini portions such as these cute boxes from The Fruit Factory.

Nestle Curiously Cinnamon Grab 2 Go Bags - NEW

One of my favourite foods in the world are hot cinnamon and sugar donuts, the kind that you find at a fairground. Needless to say, they’re not something I get to eat that often. However, I’ve just tried something that tastes very similar and has a lot less calories.

Nestle, who introduced their Grab 2 Go bags last year, have brought out a new version – Curiously Cinnamon Grab 2 Go. Each bag has 109 calories.

Weetabix Breakfast Biscuits On the Go - Review

Oh no, not another one.’ This was my first thought as I spotted the new Weetabix Breakfast Biscuits in Tesco.

Despite several brands of breakfast biscuits already jostling for space on the supermarket shelves, it seems there's room for more.
