Nature’s Store Mini Organic Chocolate Rice Cakes

Plain rice cakes are usually a good choice of snack when you’re trying to cut down on calories, fat, salt and sugar. But, to be honest, they’re not the tastiest of snacks to munch on.

Fortunately, there are a few varieties that have livened the boring rice cake up a bit, while still remaining relatively low in calories. And if you’re the kind of person who likes their snacks to be free of everything (well, nearly everything), as well as organic, then you might like these rice cakes from Nature's Store.

I recently discovered these mini rice cakes from Nature's Store and they've turned out to be one of my favourite snack discoveries for some time.

Nature's Store Organic & Gluten Free Mini Rice Cakes are covered with rice chocolate. They're gluten free, wheat free, lactose free and GM free. So what is in them?

As might be expected, the main ingredient is organic rice for the cake part and a chocolate topping which is made with rice drink. All ingredients are certified organically grown.

Packs are 40g in weight and hold 10 mini rice cakes, each worth 17 calories.

As for the taste, the rice cake part is fairly typical, but it's barely noticeable as the delicious chocolate on top simply dissolves and envelopes each mouthful. It’s absolutely delicious, all crunchy and smooth melted chocolate. In fact, it’s very hard to stop eating them once that pack is open. I’ve had to take a few out at a time and put the pack out of sight for another day.

Eating the entire pack in one go isn’t too bad, with 177 calories for the whole bag. But I like to keep my snacks to around 100 calories, so half a pack at a time suits me.

A note on the pack:
These Nature’s Store Rice Cakes are made using organic rice grown in the paddy fields of Italy. To add a touch of indulgence we have lightly covered them in a chocolate flavoured coating made with creamy organic rice drink and the finest organic cocoa adding a unique delicious twist.
I found these in Tesco and they’re also available at Ocado online.

Nutrition Information per 40g pack: 177 calories, 1.8g protein, 27.5g carbohydrate, 10.9g sugars, 7.2g fat, 4.1g saturates, 1.0g fibre, 0.00g sodium.
