Like Aunt Bessie's mashed potato patties, Tesco’s are also frozen. However these are shaped into tubes. So when it comes to serving it up, you simply tip out as much as you need and pop it in the microwave or in a saucepan to heat on the hob. No more peeling potatoes, chopping, boiling or mashing. Who has the time for all that?
The recommended serving size is 130g or one fifth of the pack. And for this amount of potato you’ll be consuming 135 calories. Of course, you use the amount you want to suit your needs. Heating is very easy but I find it’s best to add a little water or milk at first as the potato is quite thick. It can also stick to the pan if you’re heating it on the hob. Once it’s completely hot and you’ve given it a few stirs you can add more milk or water to make it up to the consistency you prefer.
This is probably my favourite of the frozen mash I’ve tried. It has a lovely mild and buttery flavour and is perfectly creamy with no lumps. The only ingredients are potato, water, butter, dried milk, salt, flavouring and pepper.
