Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre Loaf NEW

If you like your bread fruity, then you’re bound to enjoy Kingsmill’s new Fruit & Fibre Loaf. This is a 400g sliced loaf made with wheat flour and wholemeal wheat flour for extra fibre.

The fruit in question here includes a mixture of dried raisins, apple, cranberries and blueberries. Each tasty thick slice of fruit bread has 84 calories.

According to the pack, eating two slices provides 35% of your daily wholegrain needs. This is based on the 2010 US Dietary Guidelines which recommend we eat 48g of whole grains per day.

If you buy it while it’s nice and fresh it’s lovely when ‘thinly’ spread with some reduced fat butter. But it’s even better when toasted, as the dried fruit flavours somehow give off a richer taste. Oh, and there’s the added deliciousness of the melted butter - not too much though! Watch out if you’re using a regular toaster as the added fruit makes the slices get much hotter and toast faster.

Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre is suitable for vegetarians, is Halal (HFA approved) and Kosher (SKA).

If you like this fruit bread, Kingsmill also make fruit bagels which have 255 calories each.

Found in larger supermarkets.

Nutrition information per slice: 84 calories, 3.3g protein, 14.2g carbohydrate, 3.6g sugars, 1.2g fat, 0.2g saturates, 1.6g fibre, 0.28g salt.
