Browsing around the freezer section of Morrisons I noticed their own brand fish in sauce and a Morrison savers version. In these times of austerity, I decided to try out the savers variety. Each 300g box contains two pouches of fish in sauce.
It doesn’t mention what type of fish exactly, just ‘skinless boneless formed fish portions’. I would assume it’s not cod, but instead a cheaper white fish such as coley.
You cook them in their bag, either in a saucepan of simmering water for 20 minutes or around four minutes in a microwave. The fish comes out as a rectangular block. Its colour is slightly grey in parts so I am more inclined to think it is coley.

The fish itself accounts for 50% of the pack and doesn’t have a strong flavour, possibly because of the sauce. The sauce has a good amount of seasoning which is acceptable to children’s palates, but it’s not bland and has a creamy consistency which isn't too runny.
Serving it up with baby potatoes and vegetables makes a healthy, low calorie meal. Morrisons Savers Fish in Sauce is low in salt and sugar and has a medium fat level (due to the butter in the sauce).
Available in the freezer section of Morrison supermarkets.
