From time to time I like substituting meat with vegetarian alternatives such as Quorn because they're often lower in calories and fat. Also, when it comes to sausages, I'm always a bit suspicious about the ingredients so tend to prefer the vegetarian option.
This week it was the turn of Quorn Chef’s Selection Sausages which are flavoured with wild garlic and parsley. These are decent sized chunky sausages and each one has 104 calories.
According to the pack:
'Quorn Chef’s Selection sausages are: The tastiest ever, extra-succulent meat free Quorn Sausages packed with wild garlic & parsley’.
They have half the saturated fat of a premium meat sausage and are a source of protein. Each 240g pack contains four large sausages which can be grilled, baked in the oven, cooked on the BBQ or in a frying pan on the hob. The sausages need a light coating of oil before cooking, and for this bit I use a spray oil such as Fry Light.
