The pack is described as a: ‘wholesome spicy boost seed & nut blend’. One serving contains 137 calories.
Included in this mix are sunflower and pumpkin seeds, chopped cashew and Brazil nuts, dried red pepper, toasted sesame seeds, hulled hemp seeds and linseed. This lot is seasoned with a spicy combination of garlic, chilli and cayenne pepper, and wheat free soya sauce. Packs hold 100g where the recommended serving size is 25g or ¼ of the bag.
I bought these to snack on straight from the bag, but the pack also suggest using them to liven up salads and stir fries with extra crunch. So what were they like? Personally, I think this mix of nut and seeds would work better in a stir fry or salad (which I can’t wait to try) rather than snacking on them straight from the pack.
They are very spicy, not burning hot or anything, but somehow the combination of ingredients didn't quite work for me as a snack. Maybe it was the red pepper. One thing to watch out for if you’re watching your weight, is not to snack on them straight out of the pack (unless you have a lot of self control).
The bag is quite small so it’s easy to carry on nibbling until they’re all gone. But this would mean eating 549 calories! Better to pour out 25g and put the pack away. This is about a heaped tablespoon worth.
