This week, however, I made an exception. Kellogg's All Bran, my favourite high fibre breakfast cereal, recently launched the delicious All Bran Golden Crunch. And now they've produced a variation of this by adding chocolate. Yes, All Bran Chocolate Crunch has now arrived on the supermarket shelves.
When I first saw this on sale in a Sainsbury's store, my first thought was, ‘oh no, how could you, All Bran’. So what did I do? Put it in my shopping trolley of course. OK, it was selling at a specially low price, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have bought it.
Here’s the description:
‘New Kellogg’s All-Bran Chocolate Crunch is a light and crunchy multi-grain cereal made with wheat bran, oven baked into delicious clusters with chocolate pieces, so it’s not only good for your digestive health, but tastes great too!’
When I first bought All Bran Golden Crunch, I wasn't expecting anyone else in my family to like it. After all, I’m the only one who ever eats All Bran Original. However, it went down a treat with all my kids and they kept pestering for more.
Nutritionally, Chocolate Crunch is virtually the same as the Golden Crunch. Similar number of calories, sugar, fat and fibre with slightly less salt. Sugar content is of course high, with around four teaspoons per serving with milk. So no need to add any extra. The fibre content is also high, 5g per serving, but this is a good thing.
All Bran Chocolate Crunch has the same crunch and texture as Golden Crunch. However, the Chocolate Crunch obviously has a brown colour rather than golden. As for the taste, I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a sickly sweet taste, but they didn’t seem that sweet at all, with just a subtle taste of chocolate.

It might be the cereal of choice in my household, but as the pack size is 390g, I'd need to buy about four boxes a week to keep my lot in cereal. At an average price of £2.69 (when not on offer), All Bran Chocolate Crunch will have be an occasional purchase.
You can find All Bran Chocolate Crunch in the cereal section of major supermarkets.
