Weight Watchers Half Fat Butter

Weight Watchers have introduced a Half Fat Butter as a new addition to their profusion of product lines. This traditionally styled packet butter is available in a 200g block and has 50% less fat than standard butter. A 10g serving size (2 level teaspoons) has 38 calories and is worth 1 ProPoint.

With its bright blue wrapper, it’s easy to spot Weight Watchers Half Fat Butter amongst the other butters and spreads. As it’s not in a plastic tub it does have to be transported quite carefully to avoid arriving home with a squashy mess. When using it, you have the choice of keeping it in its wrapper or decanting it into another container.
Weight Watchers Half Fat Butter
Weight Watchers Half Fat butter has a  pale yellow colour with a mild taste. The consistency is different to regular reduced fat butters because it has just 41% of fat rather than the average of 60% fat. It does spread well on most types of food, however, when scraping a knife along the butter, it tends to break off in strips. This isn't a problem, but when spreading soft bread, it's easier to leave it on the bread for a couple of minutes to reach room temperature before spreading, otherwise it can end up tearing the bread.

Although I found the taste preferable to margarine, one of my kids refused to eat her sandwich because she thought I'd used some kind of egg flavoured spread (she detests eggs). My elder daughter however, knew it was different to the usual reduced fat variety I use, but was happy enough to eat it.

Weight Watchers Half Fat Butter can be used for cooking or spreading and is suitable for vegetarians.
