Sugar and Sweetener Blends in the UK

For various reasons, many of us choose to use alternative forms of sweetening ingredients. And, with the range of sugar substitutes expanding at a rapid rate, we now have more options available than ever. From zero calorie artificial sweeteners to natural alternatives, there should be something to suit most people's sweetening needs.

If you’re trying to reduce calories or cut down on your sugar intake, but still want the familiar taste and texture of sugar, you can buy various blends of sugar and sweeteners. These help bridge the gap between using pure sugar or sweeteners and they can usually be used in the same way as sugar.

In the UK, the majority of these will contain one or more of the following artificial sweeteners (all approved by the FDA): saccharin, aspartame, sucralose and acesulfame-K. And more recently are those which are blended with the latest sweetening ingredient, Stevia.

The following list shows some of the blended sugar and sweetener varieties available in the UK.
