9 of the Highest Calorie Foods at Greggs Bakery

If you’re watching your weight, you may not be planning on stopping by Greggs Bakers for lunch too often. Delicious as their food may be, pastries and cakes are never going to be low in calories.

But if you can’t resist the smell of those freshly baked pies and pasties, knowing which foods have the highest calories may help persuade you to choose another option.

But don't automatically head over to the sandwiches and rolls, as they can be deceptively calorific. Although they look healthy enough when filled with salad, some of them have far more calories than you might imagine.

Generally, if it has cheese or mayonnaise as an ingredient, it's probably going to be higher in calories.

As you can see from the table below, only the Cornish pasty makes the 500 calorie mark, as does the triple chocolate muffin. All the rest belong to the sandwiches sector.

Chicken Club Baguette
Triple Chocolate Muffins (Mmmm)
Even if you don’t give two hoots for calories, it is worthwhile making note of the fat content, as this too can vary quite a lot. Notice the Cornish pasty has 31.5g of fat compared to the Tuna Crunch Baguette which has 12.5g.

The average woman should aim for no more than 70g of fat and the average man 95g per day, so take this into account along with the rest of your daily food intake.

When it comes to calorie dense foods, ideally eat it in small portions or stick to eating it once in a while. If you really can't avoid that Triple Chocolate muffin, why not share it with someone else. They'll get an unexpected treat and you'll lose half the calories!
