Graze Box Review - Greek Kalamata Olives with Herbs

Graze Box Delivery Date: 13 January 2012

Graze box snack nibble boxIt might have been Friday the 13th, but once again for the 8th week in a row, my Graze box popped through the letterbox on time. This week’s Graze box included three snacks which I’ve previously received and rated either LIKE or LOVE.

This included Tom Yum Yum (a Thai spicy rice cracker mix), Fruit Sangria (orange infused sultanas, dried physalis and dried strawberries) and Lemon Meringue Pie (mini meringues, yogurt coated peanuts and lemon infused sultanas).

After seven weeks of receiving Graze nibble boxes and having sampled a fair few of their offerings, I thought it might be worth browsing through the Graze menu again.

This turned out to be a good idea as I discovered a few treats I’d originally crossed off with a BIN, but now would like to TRY. I’ve now added olives, not for me, but my husband who seems to enjoy eating these things.

This leads me to the fourth snack included in this week’s box – Kalamata Olives with Herbs.

Kalamata Olives with Herbs

This is a punnet of pitted black Kalamata olives with herbs (thyme, oregano, basil, marjoram, rosemary, parsley and sage) and preserved in a mixture of sunflower and extra virgin olive oil. All the Graze snack punnets have a use by date which can be found in the accompanying leaflet. The olives however, have a note on the peel off lid saying ‘eat me quick, I'm fresh’. There were still a few days though, since they didn’t have to be eaten until the 19th of January. There weren't any instructions about where to keep them, but I put them in the fridge just in case.

The punnet contained 12 olives so each olive is worth around 11 calories. I tried a couple, and, despite not being an olive fan, they were nice and fresh with a delicate herby flavour, but maybe a bit too oily. My husband thought they were OK and liked the fact he didn't have to worry about a stone in the centre. However, he also found them a bit too oily. In that case, I’m afraid this one isn't for us so I’ll be rating the olives as BIN (meaning please don’t send again).
Calories for the punnet: 142

The rest of the Graze box contents were every bit as good as last time, so they’ll keep their ratings.

Other snacks received this week were:

Tom Yum Yum and Lemon Meringue Pie were both reviewed in week 2 here.

The total Graze box calorie count for this week is 526.

After I'd taken all the punnets out of the box, I noticed something underneath. It was this tiny toothpick type instrument made from some kind of smooth wood. Since it had a sharp point at one end with a spatula shape at the other, I assumed this is for eating the snacks. What a great idea. I haven't noticed this before and wonder whether I've been throwing them away each week!
