Ice Cream Cones - Askeys and Carousel

Ice creams in cones are one of the most enjoyable parts of summer. Each year, the tinkling sound of the ice cream van can be heard in towns and cities around the country. Come rain or shine, they make an appearance, knowing that someone, somewhere will be tempted out of their home for a 99 flake.

Unfortunately, an ice cream in a cone, complete with chocolate flake and sauces drizzled over the top, means you’re looking at a treat worth over 200 calories. If you’re counting calories, you could always make your own ice cream in a cone for as little as 50 calories.

Ice cream cones themselves generally have very few calories. The two brands here: Askeys and Carousel are found in larger supermarkets and have just 13 calories and 19 calories each respectively. Avoid the waffle cones. Delicious as they are, they have more than three times the calories.

Top your cone with a scoop of Walls Vanilla Light ice cream (30 calories) and there you have your ice cream in a cone for less than 50 calories. If you insist on a flake stuck in the side, you’ll have to add another 45 calories.
