Tesco Light Choices Chicken & Gravy Pie

Ready meals get a bad wrap for being unhealthy, high in fat and salt, and generally an all round bad idea, from a health conscious point of view. But they’re not all bad news.

Some ready meals are geared towards people who have an interest in keeping their calorie count down but don’t have the time to cook a healthy meal from scratch every day.

Tesco’s Chicken & Gravy Pie from their Light Choices range, has only 400 calories in the entire 450g pack and is very low in fat. It consists of strips of chicken breast and thigh in a rich gravy with mushrooms, topped with fresh mashed potato. It's freezable or you can store it in the fridge until its use by date.

  1. This has no taste. The chicken is sliced not the chunky pieces i was expecting and the mash is gluey and tasteless and way too much compared to the amount of chicken. Will not buy again.
