If you love eating bread but find it hard to give up when you’re on a diet, you don't have to. Many of the lighter 'diet' type breads can be quite airy and therefore not very substantial to eat. However, in many cases, all you need to do is swap from a large sized loaf (800g) to a smaller, 400g one.
And if you choose a smaller loaf, you can often halve the number of calories per slice. A tasty bread to try is Marks and Spencer's Wheatgerm bread. The slices are quite thin, but they’re nice and chewy and have a milder taste than wholemeal.
