One tried and tested method of temporarily filling yourself is to drink a large glass of water about 20 minutes before a meal. The idea behind this little trick is that you will be too full to overeat during your meal, or at the very least you'll be less tempted to eat a large portion or even opt for seconds. To further increase the benefits of this method, pour yourself another drink (calorie-free of course) and take a few sips after every few mouthfuls of food.
