Graze Snack Box Review Cracking Black Peppercorn

Graze Snack Box Cracking Black PeppercornGraze have brought out so many new snacks, that it’s rare I ever get a snack box without something new to try. This week it was Cracking Black Peppercorn Rice Crackers. These are classed as a Graze Light snack and have 105 calories per punnet.

I always look forward to the rice cracker snacks from Graze and there isn’t one I haven’t enjoyed yet. But these are a bit different.

Inspecting the contents, the rice crackers aren’t round like the others. Instead they’re shaped little golden clusters with a sprinkling of black pepper. They look so tempting and have a lovely, mildly spicy smell.

They’re crispy and slightly oily, which is really tasty. But once the taste buds detect those peppercorns, it’s like, wow, ahh, this is hot! I thought maybe I’d just bitten on a particularly peppery rice cracker, but munching my way through a few more proved that theory wrong.

Perhaps my taste buds are becoming more sensitive with age, but as a mid-morning snack, this just didn’t quite hit the spot. After a long, cool drink, I gave the rest away to a colleague with a stronger constitution than me.

Although I actually like black pepper and regularly grind fresh black peppercorns onto my meals, I’m afraid I had to give this snack a rating of BIN. It’s a bit too fiery for me.

Calories for the snack: 105

Rice, vegetable oil, sugar, maltodextrin, soy sauce (soy bean, wheat, salt), cracked black pepper, salt, black pepper powder, tapioca starch, black pepper flavour, yeast extract, paprika, caramel, tocopherol (vitamin E), turmeric.

Contains gluten, soya and wheat.
