Zico Coconut Water All Natural Healthy Drink

If you're looking to quench your thirst during or after a sporting activity, there's really no better drink than pure, natural water. But these days many of us want more from our drinks, which is why there's now a plethora of functional drinks offering all sorts of health benefits.

Some are fortified with extra vitamins and minerals which is good, but many also contain a lot of added sugar. This isn't good for health and it adds unnecessary calories which won't help with weight loss.

However, there is a more natural, health giving drink which has seen a boom in sales recently. Coconut water contains potassium, calcium and magnesium and is ideal to take along to a work out session.

Although coconut in its natural state is very high in calories, the coconut water is much lower, typically providing fewer calories than most sports drinks of the non sugar free variety.

One of the popular brands in the UK is Zico Coconut water which can be purchased in a 400ml bottle. It's a refreshingly tasty, thirst quenching and natural drink with no added sugar.

 According to the website:

Coconut water is credited with many health giving benefits. In its raw state, coconut water is rich in electrolytes meaning it is one of the closest things to the composition of the fluids in our own bodies - making it the ideal thirst quencher.

Zico Coconut water bottleZico coconut Water is made from all natural ingredients with the sugar content coming from the coconut water. There are just 17 calories per 100ml or 68 calories for the whole 400ml bottle. It also provides around 30% of the average recommended daily amount of potassium for adults.

Potassium is easily absorbed and is essential for maintaining fluid balances within the body and maintaining normal muscle function – especially vital for those who are active. However, due to it's low carbohydrate content, it's not ideal for endurance training.

The water itself has a delicious coconut smell and taste with a slightly thicker than water consistency. If you've ever drunk pure coconut water straight out of a coconut shell, then you’ll find Zico's coconut water tastes remarkably similar.

Once it's been opened it has to be refrigerated and drunk within 24 hours.

What Zico say:

“We hand-harvest the most delicious young green coconuts from around the world to bring you ZICO Coconut water.
