Weight Watchers Hot Chocolate Drink in Cups NEW

I spotted these packs of Weight Watchers Hot Chocolate Drinks in a branch of Poundland. I’m not entirely sure they’re meant for home use as they’re sold in vending machine style cups.

Still, as they were being sold alongside the other hot chocolate drinks for £1 I thought I'd give them a try. Of course, the fact that each drink has just 33 calories and 1 ProPoint helped persuade me.

Weight Watchers Hot Chocolate drink is packed in a wrapper containing 7 individual cups. They're all wedged together in a way which keeps the chocolate powder inside the cups (each one doesn't have its own lid).

This chocolate drink is made with real chocolate (30% cocoa powder and some chocolate flakes) and is made with natural flavours.

It’s described as: deliciously smooth instant hot chocolate drink.’

To use, just open the bottom of the pack and remove one cup at a time by twisting it off the stack. Then add your hot water, not boiling as the cups are too hot to hold. Drink and hopefully enjoy!

The colour when made up is quite dark but has a nice chocolate smell. However, the consistency is far too thin, no doubt due to the meagre 9g of powder in the cup. It’s certainly sweet enough but I had to add some milk to make it a bit creamier.

Drinking out of the plastic cup isn't particularly pleasant either. For me it's a reminder of sitting in waiting rooms, drinking unpalatable cups of tea or coffee to pass the time. So I'm not sure why they're being sold to the general public this way. Probably the best thing about the cup was it worked wonders as a handwarmer.

Alternatively, they could be a good choice if you're short on cups at work or want to cut down on the washing up at home. And of course, each cup is low in calories so can be helpful if you're following a low calorie diet.

Found in Poundland.

Suitable for vegetarians. Made with real chocolate and the sweetener used is sucralose. Contains no hydrogenated vegetable oils.

Nutrition Information per 9g cup: 33 calories, 1.0g protein, 4.5g carbohydrate, 3.1g sugars, 0.9g fat, 0.7g saturates, 1.4g fibre, 0.2g salt.
