Flora Cuisine is a new, healthier oil which is made especially for cooking. Its blend of sunflower, linseed and rapeseed oils has 45% less saturated fat than olive oil and less calories than most other cooking oils.
It’s perfect for shallow frying, stir frying, baking, roasting or greasing baking tins. It doesn’t spit or burn like oil or butter and it’s simple to cook with.
When frying, just pour out the creamy coloured oil into a hot pan and watch it dissolve and bubble into a clear oil. This means it’s ready to use.
When baking, you can use it in place of butter or margarine and in the same quantities. You can also use it to baste food when roasting, just as you would with regular cooking oil.
You can’t use Flora Cuisine in place of hard fats such as those used in making pastry, or for deep fat frying and baking that involves ‘creaming’ the mixture.
Flora Cuisine has to be stored in the fridge rather than the cupboard which means you’ll find it in the chiller cabinets alongside the butters and margarines. It is available in most main supermarkets.
If you’re looking for a healthier cooking oil, then Flora Cuisine is right up there with the best. Sunflower, linseed and rapeseed oils contain the essential fats Omega 3 and 6 and the overall fat content is lower than most other oils. While It is certainly a healthier oil to cook with, if you’re watching your weight you still need to use it sparingly as each 15ml tablespoon has 95 calories. However, a little does go a long way.
